# Prepare an application for a merchant

Build a link and give it to the merchant. They open it, sign in (free, email link),
review a business profile drafted from what you sent, and sign it themselves.
**Nothing is sent to any provider until the merchant signs.** The more of their
business you include, the less they type: with the profile fields below filled in,
the merchant usually only adds their name and signs.

```
| `terminated_before` | Has a provider ever closed their account? | `yes` / `no` |
The merchant's own name, email and phone number never go in a link — they come from
their signed-in account. **With our MCP server and a signed-in merchant**, use the
`fill_business_profile` tool instead: it drafts the profile (or fills only its empty
fields) on their account, contact name included.
Every parameter is optional except `providers`. The MCP tool names are accepted too
(`payment_methods`, `monthly_volume`). Values we can't use are shown to the merchant,
never silently dropped. Not sure which providers fit? Match first: the MCP
`match_providers` tool returns an `apply_url` for its top results.
## Rules
- **Never put personal data in the link** — no names, emails or phone numbers. The
  merchant's contact details come from their own signed-in account.
- **Never tell the merchant it was sent.** Say: "Here's your application, prefilled —
  check it and sign."
- **Never say they are pre-qualified or approved.** Each provider decides for itself.
- Each provider is labelled honestly on the page: *Accepts applications*, *We'll notify
  them* (listed here but not taking applications yet) or *Interest recorded* (not on
  PaymentProviders.io yet).
**Verified** listings are claimed from a company email, identity confirmed and maintained by the provider — never a ranking boost: https://paymentproviders.io/verified
